Over the course of the last few months we have had the privilege of having Judy Shpeley instructing us in New Decision Therapy. In a few days we will be graduating from the workshop. It has required a dedication and openness that is seldom seen in institutions such as this. Because of the nature of the program, lies are ferreted out and the truth remains. The body simply cannot lie. Our minds become clouded with issues that keep us in turmoil and have led to many men coming to prison in the first place. I have long believed that the phrase "the night wears black to tell us that it mourns" is true.

I still believe it to be true but Judy Shpeley has shown me that the night also wears a many hued-colored coat of light. Simply put, I believe I have reached a new stage in both my spiritual and psychological development. I am truly alive, maybe so for the first time in my life. I find forgiveness alive and radiant as the moon deep within my own breast. I proclaim Judy's oneness with the light and her message burns deep in me. I seek to share my truth because it is the only way I have to set my mind and spirit free.

For many years I have had difficulty in identifying, and personalizing my "shadow," Carl Jung's name for the darker self lurking deep within. Jung believed that our shadows are the composite of all the shameful emotions, nasty impulses, and negative aspects of our personalities that we attempt to bury in order to show an acceptable face to the world.

Our shadows are only to be feared if we repress them, if we refuse to give them the recognition they need. Judy Shpeley is by our side as we open the door to the shadow realm a little and let out various elements a few at a time, relating to them, finding use for them, and why you might ask? "So that we may reduce the risk of being surprised by shadow sneak attacks and unexpected explosions" "like a Roman Candle gone berserk."

After five glorious full day sessions with Judy, the door has been flung wide open and as Judy assured us, the shadow can contain the divine, the good, the holy and powerful aspects of person hood. She certainly has helped me take a long deep look inside and like what I found there. She has reaffirmed my humanness and helped me discover my need for support. I have discovered with Judy's guidance and support that my need for support is the driving force of my being.

I have had the privilege of meeting and receiving guidance from Judy Shpeley with regards to New Decision Therapy.

While I am not a qualified analyst in the sense of having received professional credentials or training to speak to the merits and/or benefits of Judy's methodologies, I can attest from personal experience that I have gained considerably in personal development from interactions with Judy and New Decision Therapy.

I would like to express how I feel about Judy Shpeley and her New Decision Therapy workshop and what it did for me. I participated in the workshop that she held at Warkworth Institution in May and early June which was sponsored by the institution's Health Promotions Dept.

I cannot say enough about what a positive and enlightening experience it has been. With Judy's help and training, I have been able to deal with a lot of old baggage as well as come to terms with many issues which led to my incarceration. I am near the beginning of a life sentence and so naturally have many issues to deal with as well as face the reality of what I did which put me here.

Judy is an incredibly compassionate and enlightened person and she brings that to her workshops. As well as bringing my past and present emotional problems to light, these workshops have also helped me in coming to better terms with the reality of a life sentence and given me better tools with which to deal with it in a positive and constructive way. I can only say that I am a better person for having participated and I truly believe that anyone participating in the New Decision Therapy workshop would benefit greatly. I'm not sure what part her therapy could play in correctional programming, but I do know from experience that it could only be highly beneficial in tearing down the walls that exist around anyone who is incarcerated so that they may better deal with their personal problems which led them to this place in their lives.

I would like to take a moment to comment on the "Empathetic Therapy Practitioner" workshop in which I have recently participated.

I am grateful for the opportunity to know Judith Shpeley. Participating in this workshop has given me a better understanding of what it means to be a good person. I consider meeting Judith Shpeley to be one of the most fortuitous events in my life.

Judith is a sagacious individual with an ability to efface the obfuscation commonly espoused by so many schooled individuals supposedly "in the Know." She has helped me to understand that the only way to gain inner peace is to make unconditional love and forgiveness a work of life.

Were I to be asked, who and what Judith Shpeley is, and what does she do? My answer would be: Judith Shpeley is a walking monument to unconditional love and forgiveness. She spends her life teaching others to become better beings through her own caring and magnanimous actions.

If greatness can be defined as one's ability to genuinely communicate unconditional love and forgiveness for all others, then Judith Shpeley is the greatest person I know.
